FINDERS KEEPERS

PLACES

A Brief Note about Our Unnamed City in Our Unnamed State

Although Stephen King does not reveal the city or state where Finders Keepers takes place, he drops numerous intriguing hints regarding its locale. We know that the nearest major league team is the Cleveland Indians, and the locally supported basketball team is the Cleveland Cavaliers. The local minor league baseball team is the Groundhogs (a fictional team) but their main rivals are the Toledo Mudhens.

Toward the end of Mr. Mercedes, Hodges named two coroners whom he’s worked with since the nineteen-nineties. Both are employees of the Huron County Morgue. It just so happens that Huron County is a real county in Ohio (it is located just south of Erie County), and Erie County itself contains a lakeside city called Huron, which is part of the greater metropolitan region of Sandusky. If I were a betting gal, I’d put my money on our unnamed city being located in Erie County, Ohio, somewhere in the lakeside vicinity of Sandusky/Huron. Most likely, the lake in question is Lake Erie.

As in the Characters section of this concordance, I have tried to avoid revealing any major spoilers. For further information about the link between places and final events, please see the End of Watch concordance. Thanks!
